I've spent my career so far with one foot in the world of public service, and the other in the world of innovation.

I've hurt myself, humiliated myself and peed my pants in the performance of my duties -- and more often in the performance of my geek duties!

What motivates us to serve? What motivates us to innovate? What can the two cultures learn from one another? Are there parallels that offer hope in the current matter of the 99% and the 1%?


This talk was presented at Ignite Charlotte 2 on February 8, 2011 at the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, NC. Jim Van Fleet was speaker #10.
