Technolgy behind the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter by Creighton Holt

The F-35 JSF is the first mass produced, 5th generation, very low observable, strike fighter. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor for the program which currently includes the US Air Force, US Navy, US Marine Corps, 8 partner countries (United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Turkey, Canada, Australia, Denmark, and Norway) and 2 security cooperation participants (Israel and Singapore).  The JSF will employ cutting edge technology to replace multiple legacy strike fighter aircraft to include the F-16, F/A-18, A-10, AV-8B, EA-6B, GR-1, to name a few.  Much of the technology has significant commercial and consumer application as well.
